How to hire a reputable moving company

Even if a moving company is properly licensed and insured, it doesn't mean that they will offer quality service.  Finding a moving company that has a great reputation for offering quality work with integrity can save you more than you realize.  When it comes to handling your items, quality is always the most important thing to consider.
  • Make sure the companies you are considering can handle your move.  If you are moving out of state, for example, you want to make sure the company offers that service.  If you need storage for your belongings, you need to make sure the company offers that service.  By asking a few questions and looking at their website, you should be able to narrow the field.
  • Do a little research online to see how the company presents itself.   If the company has a website, take a moment to check out their equipment, employees, and professionalism.  If they don't have a website or Facebook page, it's not necessarily a bad sign.  However, good moving companies will make sure you have adequate opportunity to learn more about them.    
  • Research the company's reputation.  Companies are like people; some are good to work with and some are not.  Some are honest and some are not.  It's a good idea to check any or all of the following options to learn about a company's reputation.  Ask a family member or a friend if they have used a moving company they like.  Ask your realtor if they know of a moving company that they would recommend.  Companies that have good reputations will likely have information online to confirm it. ​Check online with places like Google Reviews, Angie's List, or the Better Business Bureau.  Ask a company if they have any references that you could personally contact.  A company that cares about its reputation should have plenty of reviews for you to look at.
